Better plan
would you ever get enough of yourselfie? can you capture yourselfie? me, myselfie and I. lose your selfie. lose your weight selfie. make yourselfie. punish yourselfie. express yourselfie. ask yourselfie. save yourselfie. have yourselfie a merry little christmas. show yourselfie. be yourselfie. find your inner selfie. watch yourselfie. do it yourselfie. bring yourselfie to me. pick yourselfie up. lies to yourselfie. do youselfie a favor. enjoy your selfie. go loose yourselfie. keep it to yourselfie. shoot yourselfie in the foot again. disarm your selfie. don’t mug yourselfie. release your selfie. throw yourselfie away. kill your selfie. change yourselfie. come find yourselfie. help yourselfie. train yourselfie.
----------------------------------------------------------
how real is real?
would you ever get of yourselfie?
(English below!)
Selfie sport:
Bye yoga, hello selfie-sport
beginner & advanced (arm prothese)
---------------------------------------
we think it’s overrated to capture so much pictures of yourself. by making the test-video, we realised that’s quite hard to make selfies and that it is kind of a sport (dance). the arm will get tired or hurts when you stretch it too far and the further you stretch your arm all the more your facial expression will get more awkward. 1) Sport: an athletic activity requiring skill or physicalprowess and often of a competitive nature. We’re gonna take this very literal; selfie as a sport. Something that people do very often, movement. getting conscious of your own body. do we have to capture ourselves that often? is this a type of relaxation or is this an urge? sport is ment for relaxation, but it can become an urge/addiction. selfie as a sport, sport as a selfie; it has a double meaning. do you work out to make a selfie or do you work out for a better selfie?
what does it say when we turn this into a sport? you put yourself into weird positions to find the right image/angle, this is forced most of the times. but what if you can do this in a relaxed way or does it still stay forced? *putting yourselfie in scene’’ is it about the sport or is it about making selfies? everyone can decide that for themselves.
what do we want from the viewer/participant?
'’creating awareness by scoff at the sport of making selfies’’
we don’t want to change people with this awareness, but it’s not wrong to reflect on what you’re actually doing; and to realize that we live in the present and not trough the front-face-camera of your phone.

Swot-analyse
- How does your concept relate to body, identity and technology or a combination of these? We associate selfies mostly with faces, but that doesn’t have to be. How far can you stretch out your arm to capture a big part of your body? In this visual culture, the selfie quickly and easily shows, not tells, how you’re feeling, where you are, what you’re doing. A way of expressing ourselves and putting yourself in a light that you can control.
- What are you making? We want to capture ourself in every possible way with our smartphone. What will happen if we create a pattern of selfies and bring this in public space? By means of making the selfies wearable. We retain control in what we want to show in the pictures. We want to try out all conceivable selfies. We're gonna explore this way of representing ourselves to others, but of communicating with one another through images. would we ever get enough of or selfie? How will people react when you’re walking with you’re selfie all the time?, instead of staying on your phone or online, we take them into the physical world.
Wearable selfie: celebrities are getting away with wearing clothes with their own face on it, we probably don’t. we hebben gefilmd hoe ver onze arm kan reiken om een stuk van onszelf in beeld te brengen.
- What is the role of the public? (user, audience, reader, participant, viewer, customer, other? A viewer and reader ( we want to get opinions/reactions). ''maar ook om de toeschouwer mee op te zadelen, en zo reacties uit te lokken. would we ever get enough of ourselfie. ''
- Which techniques, media and materials are you using and why? -
- Fabric: for the wearable pieces
- What are you actually doing to realize/materialize your project?
- Is there a realistic planning for each week in quarter 10?
- are you killing darlings?
All the time...
Swot-analyse:

Presentation Quarter 1
Kwartaalbeoordeling
1. What is the theme I am investigating? Why is this
relevant?
OurSelfie. Communicating through selfies, they have
taken over the internet. Every major social media site is
overflowing with millions of them.
Selfies are either the latest form of
self-expression. A way of expressing
yourself and putting yourself in a light that you can control.” There
are numerous theories about the negative and / or positive impact of the ''so-called-
selfie madness.''
In this visual culture, the selfie quickly and easily shows,
not tells, how you’re feeling, where you are, what you’re doing.
We noticed in our own environment that some people are
so busy with profiling themself that they completely overlook 'the moment’ they
want to capture. If you only have a good day when you get a certain numbers of
likes on that forced but conscious selfie and your using this to ensure your
self-esteem, then it has become an obsession. Like the Danny Bowman
who was constantly in search of taking the perfect selfie and when he
realized he couldn’t he wanted to die.
2. How does this relate to the body, identity, and
technology? Defend the relevancy.
What do we want to show in our selfie? What do we want
others to see? How exactly do we want people to view us?
We associate selfies mostly with faces, but that
doesn’t have to be. How far can you stretch out your arm to capture a big part
of yourself? The belfie for example: bottom selfie
There's a
rapidly growing preference for online conversations that prioritize images over
words. Why text “I’m happy” when you could post a picture of your smiling
face?
Clearly, there is a symbiosis
between smartphones, social media and selfies. Almost all smartphones have
front-facing cameras, which is designed to take pictures of
ourselves,” Some people say that by studying your own selfies, you
know with which look and attitude you look the best, and so it becomes second
nature to adjust your facial expression in the ‚’real'' world.
A selfie among else can function as a means of
self-expression, a construction of a positive image, a tool of self-promotion,
a cry for attention and love, a way to express belonging to a certain community.
The selfie has become so dominant a form, it may even
be shaping technology, because many products have been developed, in order to
make selfies better. When you feel the
urge to become an image, you can, with little effort and almost no
consequences. It gives control. It gives release. It can be a
way to control others images of us.
3. What is my research question? Why is this relevant?
How can the use of ‘selfies’ into material patterns confront one’s
concept of self representation?
If a picture paints a thousand words, then what about
a selfie? Is a selfie is an "instant" depiction
of the self? Selfies are mirrors which we can capture, but sharing those
’mirrors’’ is done primarily online. We want to capture ourself in every
possible way with our smartphone. What will happen if we create a pattern of
selfies and bring this in public space? By means of making the selfies
wearable. We retain control in what we want to show in the pictures. We want to
try out all conceivable selfies.
the virtual-mini-me
becomes the analog mini-me-
- were gonna
explore this way of representing ourselves to others, but of communicating with
one another through images. would we ever get enough of or selfie?
•
how will people react when you’re walking with you’re
selfie all the time?, instead of staying on your phone or online, we take them
into the physical world.
4. How am I
structuring my research? Why is this relevant?
•
organizing our thoughts and collected information
•
research plan
•
experimenting (We don’t want to lose ourself in all
the data)
•
prototypes
•
designs
• shshowing
the designs in public space
•
reflection
•
conclusions
relevant because
otherwise it’s going to be a mess.
5. What tools or
methods could I/will I use to conduct my research? How are these relevant?
•
experimenting: keeping control of what we want to show
•
prototyping & implementation
•
with the final design we want to see how other people
will react and thus we hope we can answer our research question.
Feedback lizet & thelma
Good intro – clear question clear topic
Urgent of relevance is well answered
Pity that you don’t have experiments and that the plan isn’t clear
Putting down your actions, what are you going to do to actively produce?
If you are not enthusiastic selfie makers, why would you use yourself for the end product?
You can use someone who is an selfie addict
Give yourself some plan/restriction, make a selfie every day or every 10 min for 1 week.
Pick three different things, now to brought because of the amount of all the different selfie types.
Explore a few of the options, every week another one, so you can get a lot of information.
